Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How do I take the survey?

You will need your Student ID number. Click on the link above, or go directly to:

2. When can I take the survey?

The survey is open from April 1, 2014 to June 30th, 2014. But the earlier you take the survey, the more chance you have of winning prizes! This is because everyone is eligible for the Amazon prizes at the end, but the sooner you do the survey the more weekly drawings you'll be in.

3. Do I have to take the entire survey at one sitting?

No, you can take the survey in multiple sittings. As you take the survey, you will see an option at the bottom of each page for returning to the survey later. You will then be prompted to create a password that you will use to log back in to the survey. Choose a password that you can easily remember.

4. How are prizes awarded?

Every week, there will be a random drawing of 16 survey completers for $10 gift cards to your choice of Starbucks or In-N-Out Burger. At the end of the survey, all completers (even if you've already won a $10 gift card) will be entered in the grand prize drawings of $100 and $500 gift cards to Amazon.com. All winners will be notified via email.

5. What are my odds of winning?

This will depend on the number of students who complete the survey; based on past rates the odds are approximately 1 in 70.

6. What is the UCUES Survey?

The University of California Undergraduate Experience Survey (UCUES) is an online survey administered at UC Irvine and each of the other undergraduate UC campuses. This survey is an important tool for better understanding the academic and co-curricular experiences of Irvine students. UCUES data is used for many institutional purposes, such as identifying obstacles to undergraduate success, providing undergraduate student input into academic program reviews and learning more about students' financial concerns. The data may also be used at an aggregate data level for academic research purposes after obtaining the appropriate IRB approval. All UC Irvine undergraduates are invited to participate in the survey, which has historically been administered in alternate years.

7. Are my responses confidential?

Yes! Please be assured that except to allow for the matching with your academic records, your identity will not be connected to your survey responses, your responses will be confidential, and the results of the study will be reported only as aggregate data. An example of aggregate reporting is "5% of students reported being unsatsfied with their choice of major." Any quotations from responses to open ended questions used in public reporting will be reviewed to ensure that your identity cannot be ascertained.

8. Can I see the results of the survey?

The survey closes June 30th. At that time, UCI's Assessment, Research and Evaluation Office will begin analyzing and summarizing survey responses in aggregate form. We will publish the results at www.assessment.uci.edu beginning Fall 2014.

9. Who do I contact for additional information or questions?

Email us at ucues@uci.edu, or call the 2014 UCUES campus contact at 949-824-7828.
