General Education Courses
A&RS monitors enrollment and demand in General Education courses offered in Fall Quarters to ensure availability of courses for new freshmen and transfer students. The following tables containg the following information for each GE course, organized by General Education category: course enrollment at 3rd week Fall Quarter, number of course sections offered, maximum capacity (room size or maximum enrollment set by the course instructor), and number of requests for the course. Please note that the name of this requirement changed in Fall 2008 from Breadth to General Education.

Freshman Composition Courses
To ensure that there are enough seats for new students who want to start on the lower division writing requirement, A&RS monitors enrollment and demand in freshman composition courses each quarter. Each table contains course enrollments by class level, the number of writing and/or lecture sections offered, the average number of students per section, the maximun capacity, number of requests, excess demand (requests minus capacity), and percent requests (ratio of requests to capacity times 100). This information is shared regularly with the Composition Program.

Upper Division Writing Courses
As part of the General Education Requirements, all undergraduates are required to take one upper division writing course to demonstrate effective, discipline-based writing. These courses are typically offered by the student's major department. To ensure that students take these courses in a timely manner (not in their last quarter, for instance), A&RS monitors enrollment and demand for these courses. These tables include course enrollments by class level, the number of writing and/or lecture sections offered, the average number of students per section, the maximun capacity, number of requests, excess demand (requests minus capacity), and percent requests (ratio of requests to capacity times 100). This information is shared regularly with the Campus Writing Coordinator who has overall responsibilty for upper division writing on campus.
